Classic Fiat Abarth 1000 Bialbero. Spotted at Gran Premio Parco del Valentino. Turin, Italy

This is a 1960 car using a 1000 cc engine with around 91 HP of power. Its design is beautiful.

The car’s engine was a derivative of one found in the Fiat 600, but with larger cylinders. There was also a special DOHC head with an increased compression ratio. Along with an improved intake and exhaust the 1000 Biabero could produce 91 HP, almost 100 HP per liter.

The 1000 Biabero first appeared at the 1961 Turin Motor Show. It was built together with the 700 Biabero which used the same chassis and engine design. Only the 1000 used disk brakes.

1961 was a successful season for these coupes and 1000 the latter did very well in the 1000cc class which it won almost always.
