Yumchaa Tea Room in Brick Lane. London

Image
Yumchaa Tea Room in Brick Lane.  London Small independent cafés and tea rooms are alwatys much more expensive than chain cafeé like Caffé Nero or Costa but they offer nothing more than them. This is not the case for Yumchaa.  The selection of teas is huge, the ambience modern and welcoming and the service quite good. Please see also my YouTube channel:  https://www.youtube.com/user/settime2588 P.S. just next door to this tea house there is a place called  Kahaila Cafe   .  I  respectfully strongly suggest you stay away from it . An espresso coffee I had there was ridicolously small, the prices are very hih and the service quite lousy. The place also looks bad and with cheap furniture.   Go to  Yumchaa Tea Room  instead, for a good hot cup. They also make good coffe and cappuccino and they have snacks and sandwiches.

The Rainbow Bagel. Broadway Market, London

Image
I have started exploring new street markets in London. The first new one visited is the Broadway Market . These colourful rainbow bagels looked too good not to be photographed. You can find similar bagels in some bakeries in Brick Lane. Please see also my YouTube channel:  https://www.youtube.com/user/settime2588 A bagel (Yiddish: בײגל‎ beygl; Polish: bajgiel), also spelled beigel, is a bread product originating in the Jewish communities of Poland. It is traditionally shaped by hand into the form of a ring from yeasted wheat dough, roughly hand-sized, that is first boiled for a short time in water and then baked. The result is a dense, chewy, doughy interior with a browned and sometimes crisp exterior. Bagels are often topped with seeds baked on the outer crust, with the traditional ones being poppy, sunflower or sesame seeds. Some may have salt sprinkled on their surface, and there are different dough types, such as whole-grain or rye. Though the origins of ba...

Details of London. Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane Please see also my YouTube channel:  https://www.youtube.com/user/settime2588 Truman's Brewery   was a large East London brewery and one of the largest brewers in the world at the end of the 19th century. Founded around 1666, the   Black Eagle Brewery   was established on a plot of land next to what is now   Brick Lane   in London, E1. It grew steadily until the 18th century when, under the management of   Benjamin Truman , and driven by the demand for   porter , it expanded rapidly and became one of the largest brewers in London. Its growth continued into and through the 19th century with the expansion of its brewery and pub estate. In 1873, it purchased Philips Brewery in Burton and became the largest brewery in the world. The situation changed for Truman's in the 20th century as it had to come to terms with the rise of lager, cheaper competition from imports and the conso...

The Citroën H Van. Picturesque Food Truck from Street Food in London

Image
Old and Pictoresque Citroen Food Truck seen in Whitecross Street Market, London Please see also my YouTube channel:  https://www.youtube.com/user/settime2588 The Citroën H Van, Type H, H-Type or HY is a panel van (light truck) produced by the French car maker Citroën between 1947 and 1981. It was developed as a simple front wheel driven van after World War II. A total of 473,289 were produced in 34 years in factories in France and Belgium. Like the 1934 Citroën Traction Avant, the H had a unitary body with no separate frame, four-wheel independent suspension, and front-wheel drive. For a commercial van, this combination provided unique benefits - a flat floor very close to the ground, and 6 ft (180 cm) standing height, with a side loading door. The distinctive corrugated body work used throughout the period of production was inspired by German Junkers (Aircraft) starting from the First World War until the 1930s, the three engined Junkers Ju 52 being the las...
