Its space frame, developed with Alcoa, is made from extrusions and castings of the material, and the aluminium body is welded on. The chassis of the 612 forms the basis of the 599 GTB. Wonderful Classic Old Rolls-Royce Spotted in Hong Kong. Phantom VI by H J Mulliner, Park Ward

Image
This old beauty was seen resting in an underground car park in Hong Kong. Please see also my YouTube channel:  https://www.youtube.com/user/settime2588 Based on the Phantom V, the Phantom VI had a re-styled fascia (dashboard) and was powered by an engine derived from the current Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. Most of the coachwork was created by Mulliner Park Ward, usually in limousines form, though a few landaulettes were made. At least two convertibles were built, one with two doors and the other with four, both by Frua of Italy. At least one hearse was also built. The Phantom VI was the last Rolls-Royce with separate chassis. It featured coil springs in front, leaf springs in rear, and drum brakes on all four wheels. The car was powered by a twin SU carburettors 6,230 cc 90 degree V8 with a bore of 104 mm and stroke of 91.5 mm, coupled to a 4-speed automatic gearbox. Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost 40/50 HP at Museo dell' Automobile. Turin, Italy

Image
It is always nice to see an antique Rolls Royce. This one is at Museo dell' Automobile , Turin, Italy. Please see also my YouTube channel:  https://www.youtube.com/user/settime2588 The Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost refers both to a car model and to one specific car from that series. Originally named the "40/50 h.p." the chassis was first made at Royce's Manchester works, with production moving to Derby in July 1908, and also, between 1921 and 1926, in Springfield, Massachusetts. Chassis no. 60551, registered AX 201, was the car that was originally given the name "Silver Ghost." Other 40/50 hp cars were also given names, but the Silver Ghost title was taken up by the press, and soon all 40/50s were called by the name, a fact not officially recognised by Rolls-Royce until 1925, when the Phantom range was launched. The Silver Ghost was the origin of Rolls-Royce's claim of making the "Best car in the world" – a phrase coined not by...
