Nocciolini di Chivasso are tiny sweets made with Piedmontese meringue and hazelnuts, typical of the town of Chivasso, in the Canavese area, and are recognized as an Italian Traditional Agri-food Product (P.A.T.). They should not be confused with Nocciolini di Canzo, which are a protected specialty of the Lombardy Region.

Traditional Nocciolini are as big as a fingernail and have the shape of a half dome or a small drop. Recently a giant version (3–4cm) was born: the so-called Noccioloni.

They are made exclusively of shelled and toasted hazelnuts of the Tonda gentile delle Langhe variety, sugar and egg white: the resulting paste is dripped onto a baking sheet and cooked here.

Nuts are therefore crumbly, fragile and subject to humidity. Traditionally they were sold in tin cans; subsequently they began to be sold in packages of pink or blue paper, cylindrical, long and narrow, which made them easier to transport and which helped to spread them around the world.

They are accompanied by zabaglione and the combination is so loved that there is even a brotherhood of Sambajon and djj Nocciolini. In Chivasso they also make cakes and ice cream.
