The Brick Furnaces of Bangladesh


When your plane approaches the airport you may be wondering what all those chimneys spread across the countryside are.

Here are a few photos of the brick furnaces that are everywhere in the outskirts of Dhaka, the capital. Sand from the river banks is cooked in the furnaces to make bricks used for the new buildings of the ever expanding city.
