First Airplane to Fly in Hong Kong. Farman. Spirit of Sha Tin. Replica in Chek Lap Kok Airport

This is a replica of the first aeroplane ever to fly in Hong Kong. It hangs from the ceiling of Hong Kong International Airport of Chek Lap Kok.

The name "Spirit of Sha Tin" comes from the district of Sha Tin , the location of the runway where it took off in 1911 piloted by the Belgian Charles de Bron.

Here are the links to my videos about Hong Kong airport:

Hong Kong Airport, Terminal 2. Designed by Skidmore, Owing Merrill

The Hong Kong International Airport of Chek Lap Kok opened for commercial operation in 1998.

The island of Chek Lap kom is located north of Lantau Island off Ma Wan Chung and Tung Chung. Before the building of the airport platform, it was a small and hilly island, about 4 km long.

Together with the smaller Lam Chau, it was leveled and merged via land reclamation into the 12.48 km2platform for the current Hong Kong International Airport
