Ferrari 360 Modena Challenge Stradale seen at Torino Autolook Week 2022 




The Challenge Stradale derived directly from the 360 ​​Modena, but the technicians had worked on everything that was not functional to performance and safety, thus obtaining a very light and agile berlinetta, with a markedly racing setting. To obtain a clear reduction in weight compared to the 360 ​​Modena, the technicians had developed 3 integrated intervention areas: materials, construction technologies, integral optimization of the project. The base material, which characterized the construction of the Challenge Stradale for the details of both the body and the chassis, is aluminum (from specific weight equal to one third of that of steel). 




On this basis, new applications had been introduced: titanium, already present for the engine connecting rods, had been extended to the suspensions; carbon, directly derived from F1, was used both in structural details and in external and internal finishing elements. Essentiality was the dominant feature in the interior of the Challenge Stradale: every single detail had been revised from a racing point of view. The whole instrument panel, in which the rev counter placed in a central position stood out, was enclosed in a carbon fiber element, which also incorporated the secondary instrumentation and the other warning lights.The new steering wheel was combined with specific F1 gearshift paddles, with the right lever extended to facilitate the insertion of the upper gear when exiting corners.

This airport is always crowded, noisy and dirty. The floors and ceilings seem to be made up of materials from the 1950s’ even though the Terminal 1 started operations in the 1990s’. Food served in the restaurant is terrible, of very expensive, or both. This is the only airport I have heard of where from time to time expensive items disappear from the checked bags of arriving passengers. On the positive side its architecture is a masterp iece of the “Postmodern” period. Its main designer was Ettore Sottsass.
