1907 Itala 45 HP Classic Car. Winner of the Beijing - Paris Rally of 1907. Seen at Museo dell' Automobile, Turin, Italy

Image
This is the car that travelled from Beijing, China, to Paris, in 60 days in 1907. It is not at Museo dell' Automobile in Turin, Italy. The Peking to Paris motor race was an automobile race, originally held in 1907, between Peking (now Beijing), then Qing China and Paris, France, a distance of 9,317 miles or 14,994 km. The idea for the race came from a challenge published in the Paris newspaper Le Matin on 31 January 1907, reading: "What needs to be proved today is that as long as a man has a car, he can do anything and go anywhere. Is there anyone who will undertake to travel this summer from Peking to Paris by automobile?" The race started from the French embassy in Peking on 10 June 1907. The winner Prince Scipione Borghese arrived in Paris on 10 August 1907 Please see also my YouTube channel:  https://www.youtube.com/user/settime2588 There were no rules in the race, except that the first car to Paris would win the prize of a magnum of Mumm cha...

Supercars of Hong Kong. Toyota Century a rare V12 Sedan Spotted in Central District

Image
The Toyota Century is a very hard to find car. It is a 12V sedan used by the Emperor of Japan, and several heads of state. This is one of the handful circulating in Hong Kong and was spotted in Central district. Please see also my YouTube channel:  https://www.youtube.com/user/settime2588 First generation (1967–1997) The original Century was based on the 1964 Crown Eight, which featured the 2.6 L V8 Toyota 3V engine, and appeared almost two years after the October 1965 introduction of the Nissan President with a 4.0 L V8. The 1967 Century was equipped with an upgraded version of the Crown Eight engine, the 3.0 L 3V. 1973 saw the introduction of the 3.4 L 4V-U, and the engine was once again changed to the 4.0 L 5V-EU in 1982, with the installation of fuel injection, and the installation of emission control technology Toyota called "TTC". Note that the 3V, 4V-U, and 5V-EU do not refer to the number of valves in the engine but simply denote model names in th...
